Talmudic Fairytales

This course, Talmudic Fairytales, given by the clergy of Temple Judea, is based on the book A Bride for One Night: Talmud Tales by Dr. Ruth Calderon. The class will explore different tales as they appear in the Talmud and through the studies of these magical stories transcending time and space, we will get a remarkable glimse into the lives of the Talmudic sages, their fears, aspirations, weaknesses and beliefs. We will understand the settings in which they argued, made love, created law, changed and adapted Judaism to give us the foundation of our heritage as we know it.
