Description
If You’re Ready to Quit, We’re Ready to Help
Tobacco use is the single greatest cause of preventable disease and death in the world today. In the United States, it is responsible for more than 440,000 deaths each year. One of every five Americans uses tobacco and over 3,000 children and adolescents become addicted each day. The societal costs of tobacco-related death and disease approach 100 billion dollars each year.
Each year, 35 million people want to quit smoking. Almost half will attempt to quit on their own but fail without the benefit of highly effective treatments or pharmacology.
The Florida Area Health Education Centers offer the “Tools to Quit” curriculum. This free program consists of one intensive two hour group counseling session designed to provide tobacco users with the necessary tools to develop a plan to quit for life.
Nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum and lozenges) is available to all adult class participants over the age of 18 free of charge. This seminar is hosted by West Palm Hospital.
