Palm Beach Atlantic University students, faculty and staff will gather Thursday, May 6 for the 59thannual National Day of Prayer. The prayer service, which is open to the public, will be held at 11 a.m. on the lawn just west of the Warren Library at 300 Pembroke Place in West Palm Beach. This year’s event takes place during the University’s spring semester finals week. In his call toprayer, Campus Pastor Bernie Cueto recalled the title of a popular book on prayer by Bill Hybels, “Too Busy Not to Pray.” The theme for this year is “Prayer for Such a Time as This” and is based onthe verse from Nahum 1:7 which states: “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” University President Lu Hardin will open the prayer service. Other speakers include Cueto, who will lead prayer for the PBA Family: Students, Faculty, and Staff; Dr. Randy Richards, who will lead prayer for Palm Beach County leaders; Dr. Ken Mahanes, who will lead prayer for local and national educators, and educational leaders; and President Lu Hardin, who will leadprayer for President Barack Obama and national leaders. The service also will include special music.
