Roy has enjoyed model trains since childhood and is excited to share them with the community. When Roy was seven his fathergave him a Lionel train set that consisted of one steam engine, two cars and a caboose. This was thestart of Roy's collection of Lionel trains. Every year at Christmas and on his birthday, family andrelatives would add to his collection. His interest really picked up about two years later when his parents moved to an apartment in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania that was on the main line of the Pennsylvania Railroad. There, Roy got to see passenger and freight trains up close. It was at this time thathis his fondness of model trains really began to develop and he set up his first layout on a sheetof plywood in his bedroom. When his family moved to Villanova, Pennsylvania, Roy was able to builda model train layout in the basement, which was the last layout he built with the Lionel trains. After about 10 years of collecting, much to Roy's dismay, his father said that Roy had enough model train equipment and told all the relatives to not buy Roy anymore trains. Twenty years ago, Roy sold all of Lionel trains as they were just sitting in boxes and taking up space. However, this was not the end of the model trains. Ten years later at a hobby show that Roy and his wife Donna were attending, Roy saw a vendor that was selling MTH trains. Roy was looking at an O scale gondola and his wife said “oh, I like that size train”. That was all Roy needed to hear and another collection of O scale model trains began. This time Roy's dad was not there to say “no more trains” and so the collection grew to more than double what Roy had when his father said no more. Many of these trains will be on display in Roy's office at the 2011 SmartPlan Express and Christmas Extravaganza. Roy wouldlike to thank the sponsors of this event: Shades & More, SmartPlan Investing, Beauti Control, Total Image, Driftwood Florist, Cookies in Bloom, Health Source of Jupiter, SmartPlan Financial Services, Bonnie Tile, Blue Flame Candles, Paws on Palm Beach and Camilli's Pizzeria.
