DESCRIPTION:Save the Panther 5K\, Presented by FPL SolarNow / 2018 Big Cat Race Series\n\nRun or Walk to help save our state animal the Florida panther at the January 6th Save The Panther 5k.\n\n\n\nIn 1970 it was estimated that there were only 20 Florida panthers left in the wild. By 1995 that number had increased to approximately 50. Now it's estimated that there are between 100 and 160 Florida panthers wild in our state. The Palm Beach Zoo is working to help protect this endangered\, iconic species. Every day we educate Zoo guests about the importance of the Florida panther to our ecosystem and what you can do to help save them. Here's one fun thing you can do...run in the Save The Panther 5k. And please visit the Palm Beach Zoo to learn more about the Florida panther!\n\n\n\nEvery runner/walker gets a race t-shirt and free Zoo admission on race day and a discount for 3 friends & family\, plus discount coupons for a future visit!\n\n\n\nThe Big Cat Race Series also includes the Stacey Konwiser Memorial Save The Tiger 5k (5/19/18) where proceeds help support tiger conservation at Endau Rompin in Malaysia and Save The Jaguar 5k (9/1/18) proceeds are for Madidi Tambopata in Bolivia. Register for all 3 by 1/5/18 to get a special series award and t-shirt.\n\nThese are true chip-timed\, USATF-sanctioned runs.
