Clerks for Arts Raises $4,760 for Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School’s Art Program

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (April 17, 2025) – The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Palm Beach County raised $4,760 for Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School’s art program through employee donations and a public art auction.

Students from Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School in suburban Lake Worth created unique pieces for Clerks for Arts, a program that helps students show off their artistic talents and raise money for their school art programs, which were then sold at auction to raise money for the program.

The artwork, designed around the theme of “Community,” was on display for approximately one year in the Jury room at the Main Courthouse in downtown West Palm Beach and on the second floor of the Palm Beach County Governmental Center before heading to an online auction.

The two-week auction raised a total of $2,000, with an additional $2,760 coming from employee donations and a personal donation from Joseph Abruzzo, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Palm Beach County.

During an April 10 event at Dr. Garcia High to showcase the students’ newest pieces and present the proceeds from the Clerks for Arts auction, Clerk Abruzzo thanked the school’s students, teachers and leadership team and pledged to “continue to foster this incredible relationship between our office and your school.”

“To the teachers who dedicate your time, and effort, and also your extraordinary talent to help bring out the best in these students, I cannot thank you enough” Clerk Abruzzo said. "... We’re committed year after year to be extraordinary partners with you.”

Clerks for Arts launched its first partnership with Conniston Middle School in 2016, raising more than $11,000 for the school’s arts education programs. Following Clerk Abruzzo’s election in 2020, he brought the Clerks for Arts program to Palm Beach County’s newest high school, Dr. Joaquin Garcia High, to support their art program.
