Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are a major public health issue, with many who become infected unaware of their diagnosis unless accurately diagnosed through testing.

Palm Beach County is ranked 7th for Gonorrhea cases, 6th for syphilis and Chlamydia cases and HIV cases for the state of Florida in 2019, posing increased public health challenges to our community. (Countyhealthrankings.org)

According to the Palm Beach County Health Department, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and HIV incidence rates have been increasing consistently from 2012, an increase by 88.6% in Syphilis cases, 61.4% in Chlamydia cases and 104.7% in Gonorrhea cases.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Awareness Month provides an opportunity for Monarch Health Services, in partnership with City of Riviera Beach  and The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County to raise public awareness about the impact of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and our communities to promote the importance of preventing, testing for, and treating STDs.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases can be preventable through early detection, treatment, education, and outreach. Monarch Health Services, will be hosting different events and activities to bring a renewed sense of enthusiasm and focus to STD awareness and prevention efforts. This is particularly important in light of the significant increases in STDs in Palm Beach County over the past six years. (Countyhealthrankings.org)
