YMCA of the Palm Beaches’ October Programming Supports Community with Fun, Fitness and Floating Pumpkins

West Palm Beach, FL (October 12, 2020) – The YMCA of the Palm Beaches announces its October programming which supports youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The goal of the Y is to provide its community with a safe and regulated environment in which its members can build a solid foundation for a healthy future.  All COVID-19 safety guidelines are followed to the highest level to ensure the safety of its members.

Mondays – Fridays
2 – 6p.m.
Ages: 2-12
Cost: Annual Registration $40; Fees start at $55
As the nation's leading childcare program, the Y is ready to help support its community during the transition back to brick-and-mortar school and provides a safe and nurturing environment.  Financial assistance and scholarships are available.  The YMCA of the Palm Beaches also accepts Early Learning Coalition funding.  Parents may register by visiting the YMCA of the Palm Beaches or by calling the Preschool at 561-727-3774.  The YMCA of the Palm Beaches provides free transportation from the following schools: Renaissance Charter School at Summit, Forest Hill Elementary, Liberty Park Elementary, Atlantis Academy, Somerset Academy, Saint Luke, Clifford O Taylor/Kirklane Elementary, Berkshire Elementary, Palm Springs Elementary, Melaluca Elementary, Cholee Lake Elementary, Somerset JFK Medical Charter, Meadow Park Elementary.  
 
Friends Don’t Let Friends Pay Full Price:  20/20 Deal
When a member refers a friend to join the Y, each earn a $20 membership credit.  What’s more?  The YMCA of the Palm Beaches will waive the joining fee.  Limit one discount per membership unit per month.  Limited time offer.

Cost: FREE
Learn how to achieve fitness results through personal training.  Attendees will receive exclusive training discounts. 
 
Floating Pumpkin Patch 
Saturday, October 24
Time Slots:  1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
Ages: 2-18 (limited to 50 children)
Cost: $5 members; $10 community
Join the YMCA of the Palm Beaches for a pumpkin good time.  The YMCA’s pool will be filled with pumpkins so kids can splash, float, and dunk them until they find the perfect one.  Decorating and carving supplies will be available to customize the perfect pumpkin. 
 
Taekwondo with Fourth Degree Black Belt Instructor Rick Vojtas
Tuesdays and Thursdays
5:30 p.m.
Ages: 7+
Cost: $40 members: $60 community (per 8 session monthly package)
This traditional martial arts program teaches respect, accomplishment, confidence and honor.  This program challenges both the physical and mental aspect to improve fitness, develop effective self-defense skills and gain leadership skills.  Classes emphasize safety, self-control, strength and focus.  Students work with the teacher to progress at the pace that is right for them. Students ages 7 & up will enjoy practicing Taekwondo at the Y in a non-competitive, mutually respectful environment.
 
Kid Fit
Every Tuesday and Thursday
4:30 – 5 pm
Ages: 7-13
Cost: FREE (Reservations Required)
Kid Fit youth group exercise program is designed to get kids moving while focusing on nutrition, activity and developing healthy habits for a healthy lifestyle.  The Y incorporates basic aerobic exercises and interactive educational to get hearts pumping while keeping kids engaged physically and mentally. 
 
YMCA Youth Basketball
Mondays and Wednesdays 6 – 6:45 p.m.; Saturdays 11-11:45 am
Ages: 7-13
Cost: $50 members; $70 community  
The YMCA’s Youth Basketball Program focuses on drills & skills by developing a strong skill foundation in players with age-specific instructions.  Kids learn core basketball skills while practicing teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship.  As they develop their athletic talents, children also build character, values, and confidence through team discipline.
