Company- South Florida Science Center
Speaker: Carla Duhaney - Chief Operating Officer
Topic: Girls and STEM at the South Florida Science Center
Lets discuss the importance of encouraging young women to enter the Engineering, Mathematics, and Science fields, to stand out, and be proud!
Girls have a bright future in Science and GEMS Club will continue to help them shine! It offers the perfect opportunity for young girls in grades 3 - 8 to learn and grow as they discover the exciting world of math, science, engineering and technology. Join our Virtual Sessions with a live educator as we explore different STEM principles and hands-on activities you can do at home.
Carla is responsible for coordinating and integrating the functions of all administrative staff at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. She earned a Bachelor in Science degree in Environmental Resource Management from Penn State University and a Master's in Education degree at Florida Atlantic University. Carla has over 15 years' experience in science education and environmental education programs within science centers, museums, visitor centers, and nature centers in the Caribbean and the United States. She has extensive experience in designing and implementing educational programs and curriculum for non-profit and government organizations as well as development, delivery, and evaluation of adult training programs.
In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all event attendees we be required to wear a mask except for when eating or drinking and, to the extent that it is possible, we urge you to practice social distancing. In addition, hand sanitizers will be placed in multiple locations for your convenience. We encourage all persons who are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated, and we urge you to stay home if you have any flu like symptoms or have tested positive for COVID.
