West Palm Beach, Fla. – Cox Science Center and Aquarium (CSCA) proudly announces the appointment of Charles Baxter as Vice President of Information Technology, a strategic leadership hire as CSCA enters Phase 2 of its ambitious expansion.
With more than 20 years of experience in technology leadership, Baxter is recognized for building IT departments from the ground up and mentoring teams to manage sophisticated, scalable systems. He now steps into a pivotal role as CSCA continues its evolution into one of the nation’s most innovative, tech-forward science centers. In his new role at CSCA, Baxter oversees IT strategy, cybersecurity, infrastructure modernization and data systems, ensuring technology strengthens both the visitor experience and organizational excellence.
“Charles’s experience and vision uniquely position him to guide our technology strategy during one of the most transformative periods in our history,” said Eric Stonestrom, chairman of the CSCA board. “As we build a world-class destination for science education, his leadership will ensure our digital infrastructure matches the scale, ambition and creativity of our expanded campus.”
Before joining CSCA, Baxter held senior IT leadership positions across both education and government sectors. He began his career at Florida Virtual School, supporting large-scale digital learning systems, and later served with the Australian Government in Washington, D.C., where he helped establish a global IT network support hub. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of IT for ASU Preparatory Academy.
“I’m honored to join the Cox Science Center and Aquarium at such an exciting moment,” Baxter said. “This expansion will redefine how we engage learners of all ages, and I’m thrilled to help build the technological foundation that will bring these bold ideas to life.”
A Jupiter native, Baxter holds a master’s degree in information management from Arizona State University and lives in Jupiter with his wife and two sons.
